What is The Best Way to Lose Belly Fat Fast?

Many people are predisposed to storing excess fat around the mid-section. The likelihood of developing love handles and a round, extended belly only increases with age. Unfortunately, weight loss through diet and exercise typically creates uniform fat loss, meaning that pounds will be shed all across the body in a uniform fashion.

Spot reducing fat can be incredibly difficult even though people are prone to storing a disproportionate amount of fat at the mid-section. The good news is that it is possible to target this common trouble zone and achieve incredible results.

In light of this good news, you’re probably asking the question, “What is the best way to lose belly fat fast?”.

This article will provide you with everything you need to know in order to achieve a trim, attractive abdomen within a very nominal amount of time.

Choose The Best Belly Fat Burning Foods

Stored fat in the abdominal region is a sure sign that you’re consuming too many calories for your energy needs. Even if you don’t eat a lot of food in terms of overall quantity, this is still easy to do, especially if you’re relying on others to prepare your food for you. In order to burn more belly fat, you’ll need to cut back on fast food and prepackaged or ready-made food products.

Eating things closest to their natural state will provide the best benefits. Thus, you should opt for steamed brown rice rather than processed, pre-packaged rice mixes that have excess sodium, sugar and fat.

Try to base your diet around lean cuts of white meat such as turkey breast or chicken breast, modest servings of steamed or broiled fish, whole grains, low-fat dairy and ample servings of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Steamed Fish For Weight Loss

Rather than focusing on the quantity of foods that you’re getting, start focusing on the quality. You will invariably eat less and feel more satisfied. You will also be giving your body foods that are easy to break down and process and that are far less likely to be stored as abdominal fat.

There are also a few key foods that you should make sure to include in your diet. These foods have been proven to stimulate a robust metabolism while helping the body to burn off more of the fat that has been stored around the waist. They include:

  • Wild caught salmon
  • Pecans, almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts and other true nuts
  • Low-fat milk
  • Tart cherries or tart cherry juice

The Difference – Subcutaneous & Visceral Fat

There are two types of fat that people can store around the midsection. These are subcutaneous fat and visceral fat.

Subcutaneous fat is fat that is stored just above the muscle. This is fat that you can actually pinch with your fingers, given its close proximity to the surface of the skin. While it detracts from the appearance and can have a negative impact on your health when present in significant quantities, some amount of subcutaneous fat is actually necessary and is not life-threatening.

The Difference - Subcutaneous & Visceral Fat

Visceral fat, however, is stored directly on top of your vital organs. It is in no way necessary or good for the body. People with considerable amounts of visceral fat at the midsection often have tight, large and extremely distended tummies.

If you have more visceral fat than subcutaneous fat around your midsection, you’ll need to place a strong focus on clean, healthy eating in order to get rapid and remarkable results. Supplementing a healthy diet with regular exercise will definitely help, but exercise for eliminating visceral fat cannot work on its own. You have to start eating for good health.

Flush Your System

An extended belly can also be the result of digestive irregularity. This is why people often do digestive cleanses when attempting to shrink their waistlines.

A cleanse can be a simple as cutting out certain foods that slow digestive processes down such as red meats, refined white carbohydrates and cheese or it can be a several day detox process that includes a stringently modified diet and special supplements with abrasive, microscopic additions such as ground up shells and hulls.

These abrasive materials gradually scrape off built-up stores of waste throughout the digestive tract while promoting regularity. As the bowels are cleansed, the abdomen invariably begins to shrink. A good digestive cleanse can be a very effective way to trim inches off of your waist in a very short period of time.

Targeted Strength Training Activities

Targeted toning exercises will also help you reshape your midsection. You should focus on activities that draw in and engage the lower abdominal muscles without putting an extraordinary amount of strain on your neck. This means that you don’t have to do hundreds of crunches or sit-ups in order to get the toned belly that you want.

Surprisingly, a simple yoga pose such as the plank position can provide far more impressive results. This looks like the top of a push-up and it engages each muscle in the core muscle set. Holding this for a full minute will create remarkable changes in the look of your belly. You can do this once in the morning and once at night.

Yoga pose

Best of all, by building your core muscles by performing the plank, you can also limit spinal stress and alleviate moderate back pain. People with excess fat around the midsection and limited abdominal strength often suffer from moderate amounts of back pain.

Run Your Way To A Firmer Belly

Toning exercises on their own will not do anything to eradicate belly fat. If you’ve been asking the question, “What is the best way to lose belly fat fast?”, you should get ready to lace up your tennis shoes.

Rigorous cardiovascular exercise will ramp up your metabolism, thereby increasing the rate at which your body burns calories and stored fat. The best forms of cardiovascular exercise for shedding belly fat are those that involve opposite arm and leg movements such as running, as this will simultaneously engage and condition your lower abs and your obliques or the muscles that travel down the sides of your abdomen.

If you don’t like running, you can try jogging or power walking instead. These activities are less stressful on the joints and bones and yet they still burn massive amounts of stored fat while providing considerable muscle toning benefits.

  1. Hi there, just wanted to leave a little bit of feedback for you and say what a wonderful post!! I really enjoyed reading this, my partner and I are currently trying to eat, exercise more. My partner is trying to loose weight whilst I am trying to tone up, although there is a little excess visceral fat around my mid section that I am trying to move. I didn’t realize that eating walnuts, etc help scrap away and cleanse the bowls, that is very interesting. Thank you for this great information, I am definitely keen to check out this fat diminisher system, sounds very exciting 🙂

    1. That’s great to hear blubutterfly. Make sure you pop back here and let us know how the system worked out for you 🙂

  2. Thank you for your article on the best way to lose belly fat fast. While I agree with you that storing a disproportionate fat in the mid- section is a sign that one is consuming too many calories for one’s energy needs, don’t you think that as you age, there is the tendency for you to store more fat in your abdominal region? Or do we need to exercise more as we age than when younger? Though I quite agree with you on healthy eating. Thanks for the post.

    1. Hi Sam,
When we age our muscles wave a little white flag and basically surrender to gravity ( especially in our midsection! ). I know of many men in their 70’s who have brilliantly sculpted belly areas due to good health reasons – age is no excuse 🙂

  3. I personally think consuming fat burning foods is one of the best ways to lose belly fat and stay fit. It is only recently that I have decided to try some workouts, I use to pay my attention on consuming fat burning super foods only and I have always stayed in shape. Maybe it is because I did not let myself gain so much weight before diving into it or maybe not but fat burning food works perfectly for me. Nice Article

  4. I definitely agree about the important of bowel health. A lot of people carry around extra weight because they aren’t aware. It’s a disgusting topic, but something very necessary to talk about.
I think that probiotics and water are great for both immediate cleansing and long term maintenance. With a physician’s approval, I think that cascara sagrada is a very good short term solution if excessive cleansing is necessary. Do you have a preference as far as a digestive cleanser?

    1. Hi Paul,
Whenever I decide to go down the ‘digestive cleanser’ route I purchase natural Colon Helpers from Holland & Barrett – they are a little pricey at times but they work wonders 🙂

  5. Your website on belly fat is much needed and i think you give some great advice on your site. I have always wondered why folks put weight on in that are so easy.I hear folks crying about putting weight on their thighs and their buttock and other places on their body but it seem impossible.

  6. Great article! I kept saying to myself, there has to be an easier way to lose belly fat. Without all the programs, gadgets, and everything else under the sun out here.

I going to implement this diet as soon as possible. I’m going to focus on that, the yoga, and I going to look for the right kind of cleanse to do.

  7. So when people pinch their waist to see how much excess fat they have, that’s called subcutaneous fat? How many excess inches is too much, for say an almost 30 year old to have on them? I know height and weight is important too, but I’d like to know the average amount for different age groups.

    1. Wow, average amounts for every different age group is a bit of a long reach mate! There are plenty of scientific results/papers online covering this sort of thing but most of them differ somewhat in their results! At the end of the day – you KNOW when you have too much ‘timber’ on the gut area ( the mirror doesn’t lie! ). You seem to be leaning towards the 30 year old mark – is that your age?

  8. Hi Chris,

I am one of those who has been struggling for a long time now with a belly. Ofcourse i have tried multiple things but couldnt really say that something worked. I have started practicing Yoga now as you mentioned and believe me it really works. Thanks for sharing this information. Looking forward to follow more tips from here.

  9. Very well written!! I also love the layout of your site! Such a catchy name AND cute pics! One little suggestion I would make is to adjust the following heading so it’s on two different lines.
    The Difference –
    Subcutaneous Fat & Visceral Fat
I think It looks incomplete the way it is now. Great link to the yoga pose.
Sorry I don’t have many suggestions but I really like your post! I used to teach nutrition so it was very interesting and a great reminder!

    1. Errr…well I wasn’t really looking for any suggestions Becky LOL. The article is just fine as it is ( believe me! ). Anyway thanks for stopping by and leaving your…opinion??

Are you some sort of teacher by any chance? 🙂

  10. The Calorie Ninja is a great name and I love the way you have layed out your website in terms of the navigation and options to share, I am also trying to lose weight and your right that exercises such as yoga hcan have very impressive effects although it is not expected by many people

  11. Hi Chris,

I really enjoyed your article. I’m always interested in finding the best way to lose belly fat fast!

I like the fact you’ve concentrated on the importance of good quality clean food and although you’ve mentioned being active – you aren’t telling everyone to go to the gym or do a workout DVD! I agree yoga positions are great for your muscles/posture and if you can only do a walk – that can do wonders!

I’m going to read your Fat Diminisher System review now!

    Sammi

  12. Ah, so it’s quality that counts. I’ve been relying on frozen dinners and restaurant food. I’ve done a lot of yoga. I’m going to look into these planking techniques. That’s something I haven’t tried yet. Ok, I’d better lace up the tennis shoes and get going. What I need to know it which type of natural food is the cheapest and easiest to prepare. I’m on a tight budget.

    1. Just trying adding a LOT more greens to your meals – salad is always cheap and easy! Make sure half of your plate is made up of veggies or salad elements. 🙂

  13. Hi Chris, thanks for the great info.

There are quite a few information that I didn’t know, and I’m going to try. Such as cherry juice, I didn’t know it would help losing fat, also Yoga….I find Yoga quite boring (or I just don’t really know how to start) and I’ve never really tried, but Christmas is approaching and I feel need to lose my belly fat and maintain my health. So it’s great to know these things.

    Thanks again, good job.
    Ray

  14. The Calorie Ninja is a good looking website. Losing belly fat has been a problem for a lot of people for a long time.

Does that three week diet and workout plan really work?

I know diet and exercise is key to good health and weight lose, but what do you say to someone who has tried just about everything, and is still having with losing weight?

I know the answer is out there somewhere.

    1. Well of course it works! We couldn’t promote products on here that were naff – we’d have to close down within a week! 🙂

  15. First off, I love the logo at the top of your page!
Secondly, great read.. I want to start incorporating more salmon and nuts into my diet. Also, yoga has been very therapeutic for me in the past and this has encouraged me to get back into it.
    Keep the material coming!

  16. Hi Chris

This has to be the most sensible and understandable information I have read to loose weight. There is so much conflicting stories, research and studies it is so difficult to know what you should do!

The foods you recommend to eat are certainly not outrageous as some diets are, in fact your recommendations sound very healthy and easy to follow. Thank you very much for the information you have shared. I have bookmarked your site for future reference.

    Kind Regards

    Michelle
